Welcome to my running blog!

Hi everyone who may decide to read my blog.

A little about myself first - I am a first-time entrant for the 115th Boston Marathon on 18 April 2011. I am 29 years old (although rapidly approaching 30) and live in Sydney, Australia. To qualify I had to run a sub 3'40" marathon somewhere, which I did in Melbourne 2010.

I am married and also have a small, very cute, dark brown cat called Coco making up our little household.

That's about all the exciting stuff....I am currently doing a PhD in law at Sydney University but that really has nothing to do with running.

I started running when I was 10 years old and I love it. Its completely addictive and there is really nothing quite like the thrill of finishing a marathon. Boston will be my third marathon (hopefully more to come after that!). I imagine that this blog will become somewhat of a training diary to keep me on my toes. Hopefully I will also be able to provide some interesting insights along the way, even if no one else ever reads it!

So - here I launch my training. There is a little under 4 months until the big day, so lots of training is required over the Christmas holiday from me. Less food, more training....or something like that anyway. I suppose yesterday was the first day of proper running work for me - 14km cross-country as part of a fun run. I wasn't so happy with my time (a tick over 68 mins) but ended up coming 5th female, so I can't really complain. I have never really done much off-road running in my life, so I should also take that into account.

Legs felt pretty good in the run, but not the best today. Went for a swim this morning (which I think helps recovery, although die-hards would probably disagree with me!). Intend to do an aerobics sessions this afternoon, but we'll see.

Back into the running tomorrow morning - bright and early!

Nb
